How to measure
dresses
for a listing.
4 numbers buyers ask for. Lay it flat on a table, buttoned or zipped, and smooth it out before you start.
- APit to pitZipped, straight across the front from armpit seam to armpit seam.
- BWaistStraight across at the narrowest point, or at the waist seam if there is one.
- CHipsStraight across, about 7 to 8 inches below the waist.
- DLengthFrom the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
What makes
the number wrong.
- Measuring with the zip open, which flattens the bust and the waist.
- Measuring length from the armpit instead of the shoulder.
- Leaving hips off on fitted dresses, the most common reason for a return.
Put it on
the photo.
Many buyers only swipe the photos. If the measurements are on one of them, the "measurements?" message never comes. The measurement photo maker draws them on your own photo, in the browser, and nothing is uploaded.
